The buzz about Printer Setup Repair:

"If you are having any problems with Print Center that you cannot solve, give this utility a try. It can repair the spool and cups directories, delete printer drivers, and more."

~ Ted Landau, creator of the MacFixIt web site and author of Mac OS X Disaster Relief.

"When you can't print, you have two choices. You can search the AppleCare Knowledge Base for the steps you can take to solve your problems, then, if needed, search the Mac websites even further for more processes hidden within OS X. Then you can type all the code from these steps into the Terminal. Or, you can just download and run Print Center Repair."

~ Deborah Shadovitz, contributing editor for MacAddict Magazine and author of the Adobe GoLive 5 Bible.

"Print Center Repair offers a variety of printing-related "fixes." [It] can repair problems with printing spools and the CUPS directory itself, delete troublesome temp and preference files, and even delete printer drivers (by manufacturer)."

~ Dan Frakes, editor of the MacFixIt web site, columnist for Macworld Magazine and author of Mac OS X Power Tools.

    Recent Product news:

    10/10/03
Print Center Repair 3.0.2 released. In this version, the way localized files are examined for permissions errors has been altered so that only the localized language directories that exist in the /System/Library/Printers directories and the Print Center application are examined. This reduces the amount of time taken for permission repairs to complete. The permission lists are generated dynamically when the first permission verification/repair option is selected. They are not loaded again until you quit and restart Print Center Repair. Modifications have been made to the Reset Print Center option to improve the removal of "stuck" shared printer listings. The logging feature has also been updated. Now, the pcrlogfile can be located in the ~/Library/Logs directory and will open in the Console application. There were other code modifications and adjustments too numerous to mention.

    09/08/03
Print Center Repair 3.0.1 released. Introduced the ability to install PPD files into the correct system directories with the correct permissions assigned. The installation of PPD files for use in Classic mode is also supported. This release is compatible with OS X versions 10.2 through 10.2.7.

    07/07/03

    05/20/03

    05/14/03
Print Center Repair 2.0.5 released. This update fixes a bug that caused authentication to fail with the error "TERM_PROGRAM: Undefined variable." under certain conditions. Modified the authentication dialog to be more compatible with on-screen keyboard software. Added the option to repair the /private/tmp directory permissions and recreate the directory if it is missing. Removed the ability to delete temporary items for all applications from the "Delete Temporary Items" option as this is now handled by the "Repair Temporary Directory" option . Version 2.0.5 is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.6.
